Not for Navigation Greetings, a greeting card line designed and distributed by Powder Puff Pilot, has the perfect holiday card for your pilot friends!

The front features Jeppesen's mythical North Pole Approach, based on the "XMS" DME or the GPS waypoint "ELVES." It's complete with a procedure turn, and caution for "Deer in traffic pattern," as well as headings and mileage from Sydney, Acapulco, New Delhi, and London.

The inside message, "Wishing you an approach to the holiday season that's filled with joy," is guaranteed to put any aviator in a festive mood.

The boxed set, which includes 15 cards and matching envelopes (8.5 by 5.5 inches each), is great for a gift or to just use yourself, and can also be personalized with your own inside message for just $5 more.

In addition to Christmas cards, Not for Navigation Greetings offers boxed sets of eight Thank You or All Occasion notecards in a variety of designs and messages.

An aviation chart on the front opens to reveal a (arguably) amusing pun inside, like "Thanks from the bottom of my chart" or "Intentionally left blank."

Another set of notecards offered by Powder Puff Pilot highlights the aviation artistry of Sharon Rajnus. Blank on the inside, the front of each notecard is a work of art itself.

Not for Navigation Greetings is just one line among many Powder Puff Pilot products, which include pilot gear and accessories for women - pink logbooks, pink aviation headsets, and pink seat cushions - T-shirts for women, girls and toddlers; aviation picture books for kids, and books for grown-ups that are by and about women pilots.

For more information or to order Powder Puff Pilot products, go to www.PowderPuffPilot.com or call (888) 801-6628.

Judy Phelps, a three time Master CFI-Aerobatic, has been named the 2011 National Flight Instructor of the Year.

"These awards highlight the important role played by these individuals in promoting aviation education and flight safety,' said JoAnn Hill, General Aviation Awards Committee chairwoman.

In addition, Judy is one of only 51 California teachers of flight to earn the prestigious "Master CFI' title and one of only 24 nationwide to earn aerobatic accreditation. In the words of former FAA Administrator Marion Blakey, "The Master Instructor accreditation singles out the best that the right seat has to offer.'

Her aviation career began shortly after meeting her future husband, Clay Phelps, the owner of CP Aviation, at the Santa Paula, Calif. Airport, where she was working as a waitress at the airport restaurant.

"One of our first flights together was a camping trip,' Phelps said. "It was a wonderful experience, but I didn't like just being a passenger. The feeling of sitting in the right seat knowing absolutely nothing is what motivated me to take flying lessons."

After completing her private certificate, Phelps enrolled in CP Aviation's Emergency Maneuver Training program.

"That experience so ignited my passion for flying that I plowed through my instrument and commercial, and earned my CFI in 2003," Phelps said.

"I now knew what I wanted to do in aviation: I wanted to teach!

"Not only primary students, but also emergency maneuvers, aerobatics, and tailwheel training. I even checked out in a Pitts S-2B, and began competing in aerobatic contests," she added.

She is now vice president of CP Aviation and runs the flight school side of the business while her husband Clay oversees the maintenance side. Teaching is what she most enjoys doing.
