I don't know what it is about those CamGuard folks - they seem to find innovative ways to torture their product.

In the earlier days of FAA certification for the CamGuard oil additive they could have just flown around for 400 hours in straight and level flight and performed the FAA required engine inspection. But nooooo; they ran the certification tests in Randy Harris's experimental Skybolt 300 while he blasted his way through the airshow circuit.

This month's featured dealer, Flo-Den Racing LLP, also knows how to put CamGuard to the test, but they do it at the National Championship Air Races held in Reno, Nev.

Flo-Den Racing is a joint venture between Floyd Cochran and Dennis Buehn, and the company is located on the Carson City, Nev. Airport.

When you put the background and experience of these two guys together, it's easy to see how they formed Flo-Den Racing LLP; a company that provides research, development, and testing technologies for improvements on various types of reciprocating engine powered vehicles ranging from ATVs to aircraft.

Floyd said, "I've been in the agricultural aerial application field (also known as the Ag business) since 1969." His resume includes managing machine shops, and he currently looks after 25 Ag dealers in the western U.S. for a major equipment manufacturer.

On the other hand, Dennis Buehn specializes in a different field of aviation. "I've been in the small aircraft business for over four decades, and I now specialize in ex-military aircraft, in particular, the North American AT-6," said Dennis.

Dennis is also an Air Force contract pilot at Edwards Air Force Base in California, and for the last 10 years he's provided training in an AT-6 for Air Force pilots attending the test pilot school.

The Flo-Den Racing improvements to the AT-6 takes a plane that usually runs in the 160 knot range and pushes it to the 230-240 speed range. Through his testing, Dennis found that CamGuard added another three mph to the Flo-Den Racing improvements.

"Over the last five years I have gathered stable performance data on each engine installed on the plane. A lot of what we are doing applies to general aviation as a whole, and our performance increase with CamGuard is well documented."

Floyd added, "We think CamGuard is definitely one of the few products out there that works better than advertised."

Aside from the issue of high performance and CamGuard, if you want to have some fun flying an AT-6, check out the offers made by Dennis at: www.worldwar2airplanerides.com. From there, you can also link to his racing web site.

To contact Flo-Den Racing LLP for more information, drop an e-mail to Floyd Cochran at:

Security Aviation is synonymous with the Hawthorne Airport.

The business has been on the airport in one capacity or another since the 1960's and under the current management team since January, 1983.

Beginning in 1983 the current management purchased the business as an aircraft maintenance and fuel concession and it quickly grew into one of the largest flight school/rental operations in the Los Angeles basin.

In 2004 the Flight School and Fuel Concession were transferred during an Airport Revitalization program which coincided with the City of Hawthorne's sub lease of the Airport.

Security Aviation evolved into a maintenance only format at this time, moving into a Quonset style hangar that was built on the airport in the 1940's, and most recently occupied by the Western Museum of Flight.

Current staff consists of six full time employees focused on all aspects of aircraft maintenance.

A recent award by the FAA (Mechanic of the Year, Western Pacific Region) to one of Security Aviation's senior mechanics attests to the level of experience and dedication that is evident in the workforce.

Security Aviation has an industry affiliation with the Cessna Aircraft Company, as an "Approved Service Facility," which requires extensive levels of training, facilities and parts inventory.

Training in products from Hawker Beechcraft, Teledyne Continental, Textron Lycoming and Pratt & Whitney of Canada are some of the other areas of expertise provided to customers.

Security Aviation holds an FAA Part 145 repair Station Certificate with Airframe Class 1, 3 and Limited Instrument, Radio, Powerplant and Airframe Ratings. The company currently provides maintenance services for several on demand 135 charter operations .

Security Aviation can be reached at 310-978-1095 for your aircraft maintenance needs.

Waterborne paint technology is the future of all coatings. Stewart Systems is the leader in water based and waterborne covering and painting for aircraft.

Auto manufacturers have switched to waterborne paints; the wood working industry is dominated by waterborne products, and now aviation has started to take notice of the advantage of waterborne systems.

Stewart Systems is the only STC'd finishing process tested to the current FAR Part 23 standards. It uses modern lightweight technology such as carbon for the UV protection instead of aluminum.

Our products are naturally flexible and durable. There are no solvents that continue to evaporate over time causing the finish to become brittle and dull.

We do not use flex additives and there is no need for rejuvenators. You will save money using Stewart System.

There are fewer products required, no hazardous shipping fees, no need for additional gallons of cleaning solvents or reducers, easy water clean up, you can re-use the same mixing containers over and over again, it costs money to heat a shop and since there are no noxious odors there is no need to vent the expensive shop air outside.

No need for explosion proof lighting or exhaust fans. The Best in Customer Service!
Our experienced tech staff has years of fabric and painting experience.

We have a detailed six disc DVD set with over seven hours of video showing how to use our products for only $20 and a free downloadable PDF version of our procedures manual on our website.
