About

Established more than 30 years ago, the Pacific Flyer has evolved from an eight page giveaway in San Diego to a 50 state, indeed, international aviation newspaper unlike any other. While we cover new planes (when they occasionally appear) and industry news, the FAA, and major events in aviation, that's not our true calling.

Biplane BoyWe represent aviators and their interests. We report directly to them every month, with news, features, cartoons, humor, essays, pretty girls, columns, test flights, and coverage of major airshows from El Centro to Moscow, from Salinas to Paris to Oshkosh. We are also strong supporters of military aviation (we were the first the fly the Blue Angels F/A-18 Hornet in March 1987) and we have a decidedly different view of our favorite avocation - airplanes and the people who fly them. But we also think aviators are not single-dimensional so we often go on odd tangents, such as taking a ride on a nuclear submarine, going bungee jumping and even motorcycle and car racing.

We've flown with the best airshow pilots and fighter jocks in the world, tested one-off airplanes and always, always tell you the way it really was, no holds barred. Maybe that's why AOPA and NBAA run full page ads in our newspaper, because they know we reach real aviators, care about aviation and what affects it, and never hesitate to throw a punch when it's needed. If we sound like your kind of publication, take a look at this site then subscribe.

We're different, we're dedicated and we don't take prisoners.
