Tour the famous Flying Boat seen in Raiders of the Lost Ark at the Oakland Aviation Museum plus see a large collection of Korean and Vietnam War era Navy jet aircraft.
The Mission of the Oakland Aviation Museum is to:
- Educate about the role of historic North Field at Oakland International Airport, and aviation in the Bay Area,
- Celebrate the history and technological achievements of aviation, and
- Inspire individuals by linking aviation's past to the future.
The Oakland Aviation Museum was founded in 1981 as a non-profit organization under IRS Code 501 C (3). In 1988, the Museum was granted Stewardship of the historic Boeing School of Aeronautics hangar built in 1939, by the Port of Oakland.
The hangar serves as the primary facility of the Museum, providing indoor and outdoor exhibition space, an education room, a History Flicks room, a research library and aircraft restoration work areas.
Exhibits include, the Short Solent Mark III Flying Boat, a Korean/Soviet MIG 15, the aforementioned collection of Korean and Vietnam War era Navy jet aircraft, while exhibit focus rooms include; African American Aviators, Women Aviators, WW II, Jimmy Doolittle, World Airways, Transocean Air Lines and hobby modelers.
ThereÕs a 12 seat History Flicks Movie Theater that shows historic aviation films and documentaries, an extensive Collection of golden age and experimental aircraft, a large collection of aviation engines, propellers, equipment and models, an excellent research library is available by appointment, classroom space for school tours and birthday parties.

Admission is $9 for adults, $8 for Seniors 55 and over, $ 7 for military/teen,
$ 5 for ages 6-12 and free for children 5 and under.
