No Geckos in your shorts

Travelers' note: it's against the law in New Zealand to try and board a commercial airliner with 44 geckos sewn into your underwear.

A German man has been jailed for 14 weeks and fined $3,540 for doing just that. Hans Kurt Kubus, 58, who said he traded in exploited species without a permit, will also be deported (sans geckos) after his jail term. He was nabbed at Christchurch International Airport on South Island, about to board an overseas flight with the 44 geckos and skinks in a handsewn package in his underwear.

There is no evidence to suggest that Geico Insurance had anything to do with it.
